Book Design 'The Bauhaus: Form Follows Future'
This project honors the legacy of the Bauhaus while looking to the future. The design consists of simple primary shapes, such as circles, triangles, and squares, and is layered with the most minimal type elements from the Bauhaus color palette. The vertical type conveys "Form Follows Future," referencing the terminology in the original motto of the school and its altered message for a new audience. The layout and balance of form reflect the overall timelessness of the Bauhaus about contemporary design.
Description
This project is a modern interpretation of Bauhaus design principles. I created a fictional magazine cover and interior layout series that uses simple geometric forms like circles, squares, and triangles and a bold primary color palette. The goal was to balance function and form, staying true to the spirit of Bauhaus while giving it a contemporary voice. The vertical title, “Form Follows the Future,” reimagines the original Bauhaus philosophy to reflect forward thinking design. The project was completed using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
